With Melbourne’s wet winter weather fast approaching, last weekend I made the most of the unexpected sunshine and took a 90-minute drive to the quaint country town of Trentham.

Surrounded by the Wombat State Forest, as you drive into Trentham you’re greeted by beautiful native greenery. The main attraction however is the longest single drop off waterfall in Victoria, the Trentham Falls.

To get up close to the waterfall, we slipped past the gate and took the ten-minute trek down the well-worn dirt path. It got a little slippery at some points so hiking boots were a must.

The walk was worth it. The Trentham Falls are breathtaking. In summer, the falls can get dry, so autumn was the perfect time to take in the beauty of a constant stream of water.

A million photos later, we were ready to head back. The return journey always seems a lot longer. Breathless again though for all the wrong reasons, I noted to myself to work on my fitness.

As it was lunchtime, we drove 15 minutes to the township of Daylesford. Known as the spa capital of Victoria, Daylesford has so many delicious restaurant and café food options, but on this day, I couldn’t resist downing a fresh meat pie from the local bakery.
